the lowdown of our process

Stage 1: You enquire

The first stage of the branding process is completing our enquiry and brief forms, here you provide us with the ins and outs of your business. Dig as deep as you can, and ask yourself questions like: What are my brand values? Who is my target market? Where do you want to take your business? Who are your competitors? What is your unique selling point?

Remember, your brand’s success relies on a targeted and succinct audience which impacts every facet of your business, so the more information you provide, the better.

Stage 02: We call you

We always chat to any prospective client before we begin the branding process, this helps us to get to know you a bit better (and you can get to know us to make sure we are the right fit!) This is your chance to tell us all about your business, your goals, and what you want to get out of the project.

Stage 03: Design Process Starts

This starts with a mood board, which is a collection of visual elements that will form your branding. This is an interpretation of your brief mixed with our ideas for direction, we dig deep into your brand, looking at your vision, mission and overall brand strategy to discover the best possible direction to take.

This is the first step in constructing your brand and the perfect time to nut out any discrepancies in our interpretation of the brief. Make sure you tell us what you love and don’t love!

Stage 04: One Concept Method

We are a one-concept studio because it works! We back ourselves 100% and believe that by channeling all of our expertise, research and strategy into one strong concept, we can deliver the goods without compromise. The OCM not only allows us to create the perfect brand, but it also means you’re able to focus on the things that matter in your feedback, rather than getting distracted by pretty fonts and colours.

We dig deep into your brand looking at your vision, mission and overall brand strategy to discover the best possible direction to take. We then present our concept in a brand presentation, showcasing the brand elements in situ to show how they all tie together. Trust us, we know what we’re doing!

I Just want a Logo

Unfortunately, we do not offer logo design as a stand alone service. We aim to elevate your business and cut through the noise of your industry, competitors’ target market, and providing just a logo would be doing your business a disservice. We believe that every business is so much more than a logo and to have a long-term, sustainable and successful business, it is integral to have a brand identity to further enforce your values and messaging.

A logo is only a small part of visually representing your business and having a well thought out, strategic brand suite means your business will be prepared to move forward with a strong base. Logo marks, cohesive colour palette, fonts, patterns, and additional collateral equip your brand to be applied to any situation like a new website, a magazine or ebook, social media (and more!).

We totally understand full branding is an investment but we can promise you it is absolutely a worth while one.

Recommended timelines

Brands take around 3-4 weeks and websites 4-6 weeks. This is all dependant on the time it takes to get feedback, make changes and in the case of websites, receive finalised content. We are able to accomodate shorter timelines if you let us know, however a rush fee of $500+gst would be applied to your job.

What is your process?

If you’ve sussed us out on social media and via our website and you’re ready to take the leap, start by heading to our booking form and complete your details. From there, you’ll be sent an intro kit with the basics about working with us and a link to book in a discovery call. Once we have a chat and get to know a little bit more about your business, we’ll send you a custom quote based on your needs. Once you accept, you’ll be sent a few emails and documents including your deposit invoice and contracts. Once this is paid and signed, we’ll get started! Phew!

Do you have a waitlist?

This can depend on our workload, but because we are a small agency with several designers, it means that in most cases we are able to get the process started straight away.

BEFORE WE START WHAT DO I NEED TO HAVE READY?

You will receive brief forms and instructions from us once your deposit has been paid and contract signed. These brief forms assist us in creating a brand or website that is suited to your business and industry, so we recommend filling them out with as much detail as possible. Knowing your target audience in depth is one of the most important things you need to know before we start working together, this forms the basis of everything we do. Please get in touch if you need assistance with this!

If you have engaged us to create a new website, we recommend starting to compile content as soon as possible. Getting finalised content from clients is the number one thing that holds a website job up. It’s an important part of the process and we also don’t want you to feel rushed so if you feel like your web copy needs some love, start asap! Also if you’re struggling for time or copywriting just isn’t your jam, let us know. We’re excellent copywriters and are always here to help!

HOW DO I GET MY COLLATERAL PRINTED?

Your collateral will be provided to you in a print ready version if you wish to print it yourself, however if you are chasing something a little bit luxe or just want that professional finish that Officeworks doesn’t give, we’ll provide you with a quote based on your requirements and will organise the printing for you.

I NEED MY BRAND ASAP

Our timelines have been thoughtfully crafted to give us enough time to efficiently do our research, draft your design, and for us to go through the refinement stage. We will never rush a design and compromise on quality. However, we do understand there are some circumstances in which your design must be ready by a strict deadline and sometimes a project may be able to be turned around quickly if the situation allows. 

If you absolutely need a rush project, please give us further details about the scope (what you actually need, how strict is the deadline, do you have content ready etc) and we can create a custom quote based on your requirements and include a rush fee depending on the deadline and complexity of the design. 

If, however, you are able to be flexible and allow us more time to work through the normal design process and thoughtfully tackle the design, please let us know and hopefully we can come to a happy medium!

I really like some parts of my existing brand, can I keep them?

We believe it is best to build a brand from the ground up as this allows for a completely custom and cohesive look and feel for your business. However, in some instances we are willing to work with existing elements. Send us an email here to chat more about it!

WHAT IF I WANT MORE CHANGES AFTER MY ALLOTTED REFINEMENTS?

The rounds of amendments allowed should be more than enough for your specific project. Please feel free to give us as much feedback as possible within the allotted refinement rounds. Additional amendments are generally billed at $175+gst per hour.

IS MY DEPOSIT REFUNDABLE?

Your deposit is not refundable. We use your deposit as a booking fee to hold your spot in our books. This allows us to give the proper time and energy to each brand. Once you fill a spot, we cannot give it to anyone else – this means if you pull out, we are left high and dry. Can’t have that, can we?!

Payment Plans + Budgets

We know things are tough and it’s sometimes scary to invest in your business so we try to accommodate this as much as possible. We never discount our services but we are willing to change the scope of a project, offer customised payment plans to suit your situation or stage out things where we can. If you’re wanting to work with us but money is the only thing holding you back, please do send us an email or DM and we’re happy to try and make things work!

What if I don’t like the concept you present?

Not gonna lie, there definitely is a chance that might happen. But there’s a few reasons why it’s not really a concern for us, and why it shouldn’t be for you.

  1. We’ve been around a while, so our briefing process is pretty in-depth. We get the most amount of info we need to create a concept, including a moodboard from you and a moodboard from us. Chances are if you don’t like the brand concept, it’s probably just a matter of tweaking a couple of things to get it right in the rounds of amendments we allow.
  2. It doesn’t happen often, but there are times when we just don’t get it right for whatever reason, and that’s okay. Sure, a little disheartening, but it’s part of the process and good news is that it gives us somewhere to start again. We’re able to extract from you exactly what it is you do or don’t like about it and we can go from there.

How long does the branding process take?

A full custom brand will typically take around 3-4 weeks, hoever the timeframe can be dependent on a few things (eg. feedback and changes, content or breif delivery etc). We can definitely accomodate for shorter timelines, just ask!

Will i be able to create things myself with my new brand?

Yes you can! We always hand over our brands with the tools for you to take it and run. When you get the full custom brand package, you’ll receive brand guidelines to direct you on how to use your brand, social media templates and collateral to tie your whole brand together!

To begin designing your site we will need all of your content! Everything from imagery to text; that way we can design your site to perfectly suit your content. This is also important to have prior to starting to insure that we are working together towards a clear goal. You will be provided a form to fill out to help with providing content.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON'T HAVE ANYTHING READY BY THE START DATE?

If this is the case, thats okay! We understand that owning a business can be hectic some times! Just let us know if you need more time. In the case you need to reschedule, we can organise a time that suits everyone, this will however incur a delay fee of $100+gst per week.

I ALREADY HAVE A LOGO, CAN YOU STILL DESIGN MY SITE?

We do prefer to work with clients brand’s from start to finish to ensure a cohesive and consistent look and feel. However, we do sometimes make an exception on a case-by-case basis. Get in touch for a consult and we can chat more about your web project!
